WHO IS KITTY?
Just a little background on who I am and where I came from...
I was born and raised in Oregon and moved to Seward, Nebraska after living in Anchorage, Alaska. I have 2 amazing sons; Chris who is 26, a computer programmer, engaged and living in Bend, Oregon and Zach who is 14 and in the 8th grade at St. John Lutheran school where he plays tenor sax in the band, rings handbells, plays basketball and is on the city swim team. My husband, Marvin, is a former Marine, an aircraft mechanic at Duncan Aviation and a fan of anything automotive .
I went to school for, and worked as, a medical assistant (pediatrics) and limited x-ray tech before taking time off to stay home and raise children. I had always been interested in learning to decorate cakes, so... when the long, dark winters of Alaska left me with nothing but time on my hands I enrolled in a Wilton class at the local craft store. After taking a few classes I was recruited to teach for Wilton, apparently I had a knack for it! This, however, didn't last long as I knew there was more out there than just their format. I then spent the next few years reading books, participating in online educational forums and studying the different techniques involved in sugar art. I would love to say that I attended a fancy pastry school, however, other than the 3 courses I took from Wilton, I am completely self taught!
I opened Tasteful Indulgence in May of 2011 and I am very blessed to say it has wildly exceeded all of my expectations!
I enjoy life outside of the cakery as well. I am a member at St. John Lutheran church, President of the St. John Parent Teacher League, Vice President of Seward Junior Women's club, an active member of the Seward Area Chamber of Commerce and enjoy photography, garage sales, camping and hiking.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to live out my dream, I pray that I can share my enthusiasm for "all things cake" with you soon!
